Obituary: Janice Marie O’Connor

Janice Marie O’Connor, age 90, passed away on November 13, 2022 with her son Timothy holding her hand as she was reunited in heaven with her family.

Janice was born April 2, 1932 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.to the late Chester and Dorthy Racine. Janice married the late Norbert O’Connor on Aug. 18, 1956, at Sts. Peter and Paul in Green Bay.

Janice grew up on Elm street in East Green Bay near her father’s office supply store on Main Street. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy and then attended the Normal Teachers school in Kewaunee WI. She earned her teaching degree from UW-Oshkosh. She taught for a few years before becoming a full time homemaker in Brillion WI.

Janice’s warm smile and kind heart made the O’Connor place a favorite spot to gather. The amazing aromas coming from the kitchen, her famous chocolate chip cookies, and the festive decorations on every holiday made everyone feel at home.

Janice loved to play bridge, read (especially fashion magazines supplied by her daughter Shannon), swim at the Community Center, visit with friends, and dote on her grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Nobert O’Connor, son Michael O’Connor and his wife Elizabeth (Williams) O’Connor, daughter Shannon O’Connor, and siblings Chet Racine, Paul Racine, John Racine, Marianne Koss, Barbara Manthei, and many friends and family members.

Janice is survived by son Timothy (Lori) O'Connor of De Pere; son-in-law Jim Horn of Verona, grandchildren Calleigh O’Connor of Chicago, and Michael and Erin O’Connor of De Pere.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allouez Parkside Village by Hillcrest for the love and care provided to Janice the past several years.

“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.

So he put his arms around you, and whispered “come to me”.

With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away.

Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating; hard working hands to rest,

God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.”
