Obituary: Jules Herbert Clausing

Jules Herbert Clausing, 92, entered eternal rest on February 11, 2024.   Jules was known for his love of family, his commitment to his church and community, his integrity and willingness to be a friend to all.

 




Jules was born to Elmer and Frances (Schubert) Clausing on December 13, 1931, in Thiensville, WI. He graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1949. Jules met his wife Carol Engeleiter at the Zivko’s Schwartz Ballroom and they were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Slinger on August 29, 1953.  Jules and Carol recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.

 

Jules was drafted into the US Army in 1954 and served in Korea through 1955. Upon returning to Wisconsin he started a job with Piper Brothers in the cattle husbandry business.  He and Carol lived in Hartford until retiring to Brillion in 1994 to be near their beloved grandchildren.  Jules enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending school and sporting events, helping them raise lambs, goats and poultry, teaching woodworking skills and supporting them at the Calumet County Fair.

 

Jules enjoyed woodworking, reading, and traveling. He actively participated in 4-H in his youth and as an adult leader.  He was a member of Toastmasters, the American Legion and President of the Brillion Historical Society.  He served his community delivering Meals on Wheels and was an active member of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Brillion.  In his retirement, he enjoyed writing his life memoirs and wrote feature stories published in the Brillion News. 

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carol; two children: Lynn Ann Clausing Rusch (Jeff), Steve Clausing (Gail); eight grandchildren: Melissa Clausing, Michael Clausing (Casey), Rachelle Parks (Alex), Cameron Barricklow (Kendra), Chrisanna Barricklow (Special Friend Tyler), Nathaniel, Maximillian, and Theodore Rusch; and great grandchildren, Jennifer, Ariana, Logan, Nadia, Mateo, Isaiah, Amy, Austin, Starr, Saso and Carmelo as well as extended family and friends.

 

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 23, 2024, at 6 pm at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St, in Appleton.  Visitation will begin at 4 pm until the time of service. An informal gathering will immediately follow the service.
