Lorraine Helen Evel, age 94 was called to heaven on Sunday, October 18th, 2020.
She was a lifelong resident of Brillion. She was born on March 2nd, 1926 at her home residence on Dewey St. in Brillion. She was the daughter of the late Antoine and Ramona (Williams) Neumann. She attended Brillion High School and graduated in 1943. After high school, she worked and lived in Milwaukee as a typist where she met a tall, brown eyed sailor. She married that handsome sailor, Lorin Dean Evel on August 24th, 1946 in Brillion. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1991. While married to Dean, she had the opportunity to stay home and raise her three children and become the outstanding cook and seamstress that she was known for. As her children were growing, she enjoyed traveling with her family as well in later years traveling with Dean. She loved heading to the mountains during her travels. An Alaskan cruise was a trip that she spoke about often that was spent with her daughter Marla. Her family was a very important part of her life as she loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren with peanut butter cookies, Andes Mints and popcorn. And when she wasn’t spoiling her family, she adored her many schnauzer dogs throughout the years. Her hobbies included playing cribbage and cards as well being part of a cribbage club for 22 years. She was a premier seamstress that spent many hours teaching family how to sew. She was always willing to make something or fix clothing for everyone. The great grandchildren had the best dressed American Girl Dolls in Brillion!
She will be sadly missed by all the lives she has touched over these past 94 years. She is survived by a daughter, Mona Constance of Phoenix, AZ, and a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Bonnie Evel of Brillion. She had three granddaughters: Jennifer (Jason) Popp of Brillion, Jessica (Edgar) Foster of Manitowoc and Tami (David) Thomas of Tempe, AZ. She was blessed with 9 great grandchildren: Karissa and Brianna Popp of Brillion, Cora, Taylen and Braylee Foster of Manitowoc, Ryan Thomas of Wales, UK, Rees, Gethin and Ariana Thomas of Tempe, AZ. She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Dean, a daughter Marla, brother Roger, a sister Marlene, a sister-in-law, DeLores Neumann, along with many other family members.
We would like to thank Pastor Mark Krueger for his countless visits and words of encouragement over the years. A special thanks to all the staff from Heartland Hospice and West Haven for all the great and outstanding care that they provided to our mother and grandmother over the past years.
