OBITUARY: Melva Riemer

Melva Riemer, age 94, celebrated eternal life on Oct. 9th.

She was the daughter of Alvin and Bertha (Garbe) Kasper, born on Sept.16th, 1926 in Potter, WI. She was baptized, confirmed, and later married all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. She married Winfred “Win” Riemer on June 7, 1947.   He preceded her in death on October 23, 2016.

Melva was employed at the Brillion Iron Works office after high school graduation. She worked prior to and after the birth of their 2 daughters. She and Win both retired in 1983 and enjoyed traveling around the U.S. and foreign countries. They spent many winters in Cape Coral FL and summers in Door County.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church and an active member of the Ladies Aid. Her interests included golfing, bowling, playing bridge, and listening to polka music. She was a sports enthusiast and dedicated fan of the Brewers and Packers and PGA golf. She and Win enjoyed many fun times with their neighbors while living in their home on Meadowood Lane in Brillion where she treated many to her home-made chicken dumpling soup.

Mom spent the last 3 years at West Haven in Brillion. It became her new home and she would often tell others how much she loved it there. Thank you all for filling her days with music, jokes, and an ear for listening. She loved the Bingo games, but even more, leaving the table with her pockets full of Bingo Bucks!

Mom will be sadly missed by her two daughters: Toni and her children, Robby & Cassie Tieman with their daughters Lilly, Chandler, and Charleigh, and Kate & Justin Hurst and their son, Jack; and daughter: Nancy & Gary Kabat and their children, Aaron & Lindsey Kabat with their daughters Quinn, Nora, and Julia and Seth & Amanda Kabat and their family, Elsa, Lucy, Matthew, and Eleanor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Win, her brother, Lester & wife Margaret Kasper, Win’s family Helen & Frank Fuhrman, Paula & Norman Rohrdanz, Hattie, Arrno & Elmer, and her son-in-law, William Tieman.

Mom celebrated her 94th birthday only 4 weeks ago when she got to meet her newest great-grandchild Jack, adding # 11 to her growing pride and joy list. Together with her family, they enjoyed eating out at her 2 favorites- Cobblestone & Van Abels!

A special thank you to Rev. Mark Krueger for his many visits and encouraging words.

A private family service will be held.

The Pielhop Wieting Funeral Homes of Brillion & Reedsville is assisting the family.
