OBITUARY: Poul E. Rasmussen

Poul E. Rasmussen, age 90, of Brillion passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at his home.



Poul was born on June 12, 1930 in Lov Denmark Europe, son of the late Peter and Johanne (Larsen) Rasmussen. As a young boy, he enjoyed riding his bike, gymnastics, and playing in the farm fields. Poul’s love of agricultural learning led him to apprenticeships on citrus and poultry farms in California, and dairy farms in Wisconsin where he met his future bride. On May 22, 1956 he married Theresa Schuh at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brillion. Poul loved farming and farmed until he retired and could not drive tractor anymore. He also had work experiences at Brillion Iron Works and VanderLoop Implement. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion.


He is survived by his five children: Rose (Terrence) Hennessey, Kaukauna, Cindy Musil, Manitowoc, Jane (Donald) Fuhrmann, Kaukauna, Paul Rasmussen, Brillion, Jon Rasmussen, Fond Du Lac; eight grandchildren: Nathan (Dana) Fuhrmann, Adam Musil, Julianne (Paul) Oswald, Lisa Hennessey and Tony Frank, Andrew Musil, Stephen (Emily) Fuhrmann, Jenna (Nathan) McKeefry, and Angela (Brock) Barrington; three great grandchildren: James and Mallory Fuhrmann and Willow Barrington; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James (Betty) Schuh, Bernard (Nancy) Schuh, Mary Reinke, Lucy (Charles) Meyer, Ann Schuh, Marilyn Schuh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Theresa; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Margaret (Braun) Schuh; his sister and brother-in-law: Benthe and Arne Estrup of Naestved Denmark Europe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John and Sylvia Schaefer, Art and Grace Kolbe, Vance and Margaret Bastian, John and Rita Schuh, Arnold Schuh, Henry and Lil Schuh, Elmer Schuh, and Leo Reinke.


Memorial services will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Holy Family Parish, Brillion. Rev. Tom Pomeroy will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass at 1:30 PM. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep everyone safe, the family requests that everyone please wear a facemask and practice social distancing. Friends and relatives may join a live stream on the Lakeshore Family Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 10:45 AM. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com
