Obituary: Ronald Raymond Halbach

Ronald Raymond Halbach, a beloved husband, father, gramps, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with the Lord in heaven at age 72, on Thursday morning, November 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his faithful family.


Ron was born on March 2, 1951 in Appleton, son of the late Cyril and Regina (Jackels) Halbach. He was a graduate of Hilbert High School, class of 1969. On May 15, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Nancy Salm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hilbert. They went on to raise five beautiful children. Ron worked hard at several jobs throughout his career to provide for his family. Even after retirement, he continued working driving truck for Schneider Farms. In his spare time, he enjoyed helping his brothers and kids with anything and everything. He was a staple in the gym in his blue and white where he enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. This brought Ron much pride and joy. The Super Bowl was a special event every year that he and Nancy spent time watching with their friends of 52 years, Pat and Kris Halbach, Steve and Kathy Hemauer, Jeff and Gloria Schwabenlander, and Gary and Debbie Halbach. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating, but nothing more than spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife: Nancy; their children: Keri (Billy) Lau, Lyn (Jeffrey) Wiese, Rhonda (Wade) Heindel, John (Tracy) Halbach, Kristy (Terry “Dubs”) Konen; 13 grandchildren: Kelsey (Derek) Jacobs, Carlie (Brian) Shimon, Kalyn (Dylan) Jaenke, Samantha (Zach) Woelfel, Sean (Erica) Wiese, Bailey (Brandon) Sampson, Rheanne (Joey) Adams, Jack Halbach (fiancée Hailey), Laney Halbach (special friend Evan), Calvin, Caden and Kaylia Konen; 14 great grandchildren and two more on the way: Eddie, Ellie, Levi, AJ, Willie, Coltie, Gracie, Jordy, Emerson, Ollie, Archie, Libby, Anikah, and Zeke; An Aunt: Sister Cyrilla Jackels: seven siblings and their spouses: Nick (Carol) Halbach, Dennis (Gloria) Halbach, Gary (Debbie) Halbach, Betty (Jim) Wyngaard, David (Mary) Halbach, Mary (Steve) Lemberger, Tom (Karen) Halbach; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joan (Dick) Quandt, Jean (Lloyd) Gruett, Mary Salm, Susie (Stan) Wehausen, Michael (Judy) Salm, Patrick Salm, Sharon (Jeff) Cross, Peggy (Ken) Propson, Bonnie (Dick) Schaefer, Penny Salm, Lori (Mark) Popp, Kim Salm, and Kay Salm.

Waiting for him with open arms in heaven is his granddaughter Kali Konen, his parents, Cyril and Regina; two brothers: John and Rick and his in-laws John and Betty Salm.

Funeral Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, (TODAY) November 30, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church in St. John. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Mike Betley with a candlelight burial in the church cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, (TODAY) November 30, 2023 at St. John Catholic Church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Nancy would like to express her sincere gratitude to their children, and grandchildren especially Calvin, Caden and Kaylia for all the time and love they shared with Gramps keeping him company. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tiffany at ThedaCare Hospice for her care and compassion, to Sarah and Katie at Pielhop Wieting Funeral home, to Kathie Kesler and Mary Lemberger for the many delicious meals and to all our friends and family for their love, thoughts and prayers.
