OBITUARY: Rose Marie Giese

Rose Marie Giese, age 86, of Brillion, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at St. Paul’s Home in Kaukauna.


Rose was born on June 18, 1931 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Edwin and Estella (Schultz) Guckenberger.  She was a graduate of Marshfield High School, class of 1949.  On May 15, 1953, she married Joseph Haag.  He preceded her in death on October 18, 1967.  Rose married Robert Giese on February 12, 1974 in Appleton.  He preceded her in death on July 8, 2017.  She worked as a telephone company operator in Marshfield and in Appleton, at Gimble’s Department Store, Kohl’s, and Catherine’s Dress Shop.  Rose enjoyed playing cards, darts at the bar, rolling dice, bingo, polka, western, old time music and spending time with family.

She is survived by her children: Gerry (Steve) Kehoe, Susan (Scott) Mandel, James (Deborah) Haag, Debra (George) Braden; step-children, Robert “Butch” (Lori) Giese, Jr. and Lisa (Norm) Barker; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren: Christina Kamuda and child Gaige, Chad Mandel, Eric Mandel and children Aiden, Alec and Everett, Travis Mandel, and Jeremy (Sandi) Mandel and children Kelen, Jacobby, and Immanuel, Desiree Haag and child Harley, Joseph (Kiana) Haag, and Thomas (Jayme) Haag, Tori Murr and Nick Olson and children Sandon and Jordon, Travis Murr and special friend Jacqui Strange, Rocky, Rydick, and Rylee Braden, Robert “Bobby” (Katie) Giese, III and children Robert, Joseph, and Eleanor, Elizabeth Giese and special friend Andrew Schmidt and children Bradley and Cali Lou Schmidt, and Trucker Giese; other-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joe, her second husband Bob, her sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Jim Miller, and other relatives.

Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Timothy Brandt.  Burial will be in the Brillion Town Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wieting Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street in Brillion from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  A prayer service will end the visitation at 8:00 p.m.  The visitation will continue at church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Home for caring for Mom for the past 7 years.  They would also like to thank hospice, especially Ellen, Joyce, Melissa, and Lauren for the care and compassion shown to not only Mom, but to them as well.
