OBITUARY: Ruby Joan (Marshall) Brehmer Ertel

Ruby Joan (Marshall) Brehmer Ertel, age 92 of Brillion, died on Friday October 14, 2016 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.

She was born on August 16, 1924 in Great Shefford, England, daughter of the late John and Alice (Sanford) Marshall. Ruby married Wilmer Brehmer on October 16, 1944 in Shefford England. She arrived in New York on the Ocean Liner Santa Paula on February 16, 1946 and traveled by train to arrive in Manitowoc, WI on February 18, 1946. They made their home in Potter until 1950 when they moved to Brillion. Wilmer preceded her in death in 1979. She married LeRoy Ertel of Cleveland on August 13, 2003. He preceded her in death in 2009.  Ruby worked for 28 years at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, retiring in 1987.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion and a past member of the Brillion American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruby and Wilmer had 5 children, Gloria (Paul) Laabs of Hilbert, Linda (John) Witzke of Duluth, MN, Steven of Green Bay, and Wendy May of Fond du Lac, 11 grandchildren, Dale and Dan Brehmer, Tammy Koehler, Jennifer Schmidlkofer, Adam Laabs, Tom, Tyler, Nick and Mike Witzke, Amber Brehmer and Celeste May,  18 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Darlene Brehmer of Collins, Marlys (Joe) Salm of Newton, and many other relatives and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Wilmer and LeRoy, a son and daughter-in-law Greg and Carol Brehmer, a great granddaughter Mikayla, 7 sisters, 4 brothers and other relatives.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. The Revs. Ross Henzi and Thomas Fricke will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.wieting-funeralhome.com
