OBITUARY: Thomas L. Ohlsen

Thomas L. Ohlsen, age 71, formerly of Potter, passed away on Saturday morning, January 19, 2019 at Darboy Assisted Living in Appleton after complications with Lewy Body Dementia.


Tom was born on November 14, 1947 in Manitowoc, son of the late Lawrence and Florence (Mrotek) Ohlsen.  He was a graduate of Reedsville High School, class of 1965.  Tom served our county in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was employed with the Brillion Iron Works until his retirement in 2012.  Tom dabbled in everything, whether it was ceramics, cars, motorcycles, flying model air planes, hunting and fishing, snowmobiling, home repairs, gun smithing, woodworking, canoeing, or gardening, he was always busy.  Tom enjoyed his pets and their company, and he truly loved his family.

Tom is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Dr. Cathy (Chad Siegwarth) Ohlsen of Brillion, Bonnie Ohlsen of Brillion, and Teri (Patrick) McClone of Scandinavia; grandchildren: Samuel, Emilie, Ellie, Lincoln, Mila, and Blake; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim and Janet Ohlsen of Potter; one sister and brother-in-law: Cheryl and Dave Bergene of Valders; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and one brother-in-law: June “Dolly” (Lawrence) Endries, Bonnie Ohlsen, and an infant sister, Betty Jean Ohlsen.

A Memorial Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion.  Military Rites will be accorded by the Becker, Bloedorn, Jensen Post 126 of Brillion.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
