OBITUARY: Verona Marie Klessig

Verona Marie Klessig, age 93, of Brillion, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018.


Verona was born on August 25, 1924 in the town of Rantoul, daughter of the late George & Adela (Riemer) Stecker. As a graduate of Chilton High School, she believed strongly in higher education, sacrificing for her children to become successful.  On June 11, 1944 she married Edgar Arthur Klessig at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul.  Edgar preceded her in death on January 18, 2012. The couple farmed in the town of Rantoul until retiring to a smaller farm in Brillion.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul.  Verona had a strong love for her Lord and her family.

Survivors include four dedicated sons and five daughters-in-law, DuWayne (Sharon) Klessig of Chilton, Daniel (Judith) Klessig of Dryden, NY, David (Rhonda) Klessig of Hilbert, Steve (Faye) Klessig of Brillion, and Christine Klessig of Amherst Junction,12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, one brother, Orville Stecker and one brother-in-law, Wallace Zahn, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edgar, one son, Lowell Klessig, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Walter & Laura (Wunsch) Klessig, one brother and two sisters-in-law, Vernon (Arlene) Stecker and Rosie Stecker, one sister and one brother-in-law, Cordia (Louis) Klessig-Zahn.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. The Rev. Patrick Niles will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Rantoul. Friends may call at the church on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
