OBITUARY: Virginia H. (Binversie) Brennan

Virginia H. (Binversie) Brennan, age 86, of 1204 Fleetwood Drive, Manitowoc, died Wednesday morning, October 10, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.


She was born on July 23, 1932 in School Hill, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Henry John and Mary Elizabeth (Baer) Binversie. Virginia was a graduate of Kiel High School, Class of 1950. On January 20, 1951 she married Dean “Dick” Brennan at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. Virginia and Dean formed Dean Brennan Transport in 1952. She served as the company bookkeeper until her retirement in 2013. Dean preceded her in death on October 8, 2013. Virginia was a member of St.  Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno, Christian Mothers and served as the chairperson of the hot lunch program at St. Joseph Parochial Grade School for many years. She was a member of the St. Clare Society of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Manitowoc, and the Manitowoc County Homemakers.

Survivors include nine daughters and eight sons-in-law: Cinderella & Wayne  Van De Hey, Cecil, Linda (Lyn) Hardtke, Manitowoc, Kathie & Bill O’Leary, Reedsville, Rose & Steve Vohwinkel, Manitowoc, Connie “Con” Sieracki, Manitowoc, Karen & Bobbie Minor, Kewaskum, Ann & Jerry Bieberitz, Valders, Jerry Kelley, Plymouth, MN., Amy & Kurt Scharrer, Brillion, Tina & Mike Kratz, Manitowoc; three sons and daughters-in-law: Gary “Buck” & Jackie Brennan, Manitowoc, Brian & Jackie Brennan, Valders, Mark “Goob” & Kim Brennan, Manitowoc; 39 grandchildren: Brooke Hardtke, Jamie Hardtke, April Hardtke, Anthony Hardtke, Jr., Ryan (Valerie Jaksic) O’Leary, Jennifer Schneider, Eric (Marlie) Vohwinkel, Jesse (Ashleigh) Vohwinkel, Matthew (Olivia) Vohwinkel, Jeffery (Jill) Gosz, James Gosz, Jenna (Zach Chynoweth) Sieracki, Kimberly (Matt) Strother, Branigan (Katie) Brennan, McKenzie (Sheldon) Ruttner, Jacob (Sarah) Brennan, Brittany (Jacob) Schnoor, Brandon Minor, Micah Minor, Issac Minor, Jeremiah Minor, Ruth Minor, Sehlah Minor, Phoebe Minor, Jerrod (Katie) Biebertiz, Derrick (Courtney) Biebertiz, Kyrsten (Derek) Johnson, Michael Kelley, Brianna Brennan, Alyssa Brennan, Brandon Brennan, Ashley (Gregory) Sehring, Matt Scharrer, Samantha Scharrer, Benjamin Scharrer, Jordan Brennan, Lindsey Brennan, Travis Kratz and Austin Kratz; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; two sisters: Irene Ziegelbauer, Manitowoc, Janet Seichter, New Holstein; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Robert Binversie, Stanley & Kay Binversie, Fay Binversie, all of Kiel; ten  sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law:  Sue Kostalic, Sheboygan, Carol Koerth, Nevada, Peggy (Loren) Johnson, Kingsford, MI., Edith Hood, Maine, Joan & Gary Lemke, Potter, Elaine Brennan, Plymouth, Kandy Brennan, Illinois, Roseanne Brennan, Manitowoc, Kathleen Brennan, Manitowoc, and Joan Brennan, Sheboygan. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was also preceded in death by a son: Todd Brennan; a daughter: Sandra “Sandy” Brennan Kelley; a son-in-law: Andy Hardtke; a grandchild: Alex Brennan; a great grandchild: Leo Brennan; two sisters and four brothers-in-law: Dolores & Lester Klingeisen, Leona & George Ziegelbauer; three brothers and three sisters-in-law: Herman & Florence Binversie, Roman Binversie, Eugene Binversie, Janet Binversie, Kathy Binversie; two brothers-in-law: Gordon Seichter, James Ziegelbauer; a sister-in-law: Dorothy (Dottie) Suttles; and six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: James (Jim) Brennan, Michael Brennan, Howard Brennan, John (Jack) Brennan, Thomas Brennan, William “Bob” & Corrine Brennan, Barney Brennan, Dale & Christine Brennan, Ray Brennan and Cliff Brennan. Virginia is further preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Owen (OT) & Cinderella Brennan and her step mother-in-law: Edith Brennan.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 North 14th Street) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 North 14th Street) Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, (TODAY) October 12, 2018. Friends may also call Saturday morning at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo (1121 North 14th Street) Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated in Virginia’s name to Roncalli High School, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas the Apostle – Newton, In Courage or The Haven.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Herring and his staff, Home Care Health Services, and Holy Family Home Care for their compassionate care given to Mom, especially, special friends and neighbors Brian and his family.
