The Brillion News
Friday night lights return tomorrow night with area football. All four area teams will be in action at 7 p.m. Brillion battles Hilbert-Stockbridge at Brillion Middle School, Reedsville hosts Manitowoc Lutheran and Wrightstown will serve as the “home team” for a game in Little Chute.
Hilbert-Stockbridge @ Brillion (Non-conference game)
The Lions and Wolves face each other in the season opener for the fourth year in a row. Defending Big East Conference champions Hilbert-Stockbridge were undefeated a season ago and made it to the second level of the playoffs, while Brillion finished the year with an overall record of 3-6. Hilbert-Stockbridge has won the previous two years against the Lions, with Brillion last winning on August 23, 2013, at Hilbert.
Manitowoc Lutheran @ Reedsville (Big East Conference game)
The Panthers open the season against Manitowoc Lutheran for the second season in a row. Both teams are looking to turn their fortunes around and fight out of the last two spots of the conference that they finished in last season. Manitowoc Lutheran’s lone win of 2015 came on opening night against Reedsville, 19-14. Reedsville finished the season winless. Manitowoc Lutheran has won four of the last five years in their match ups with the Panthers. Reedsville’s last win came on October 3, 2014, in a 19-7 home win.
Wrightstown @ Little Chute (North Eastern Conference game)
In a game that was originally set for Tiger Stadium, Wrightstown will travel to Little Chute but have it count as a home game. Their home field is under renovation and isn’t ready for the season opener. Wrightstown began a 5-0 start in 2015, by defeating Little Chute 25-21 on opening night. Friday also marks the first game as Steve Klister becomes solo head coach.
