Reedsville assistant wrestling coach perishes over weekend

REEDSVILLE - William J. "Billy" Verbeten, a member of the legendary wrestling family and an assistant wrestling coach at Reedsville, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 3.

Verbeten, 39, was a graduate of the UW-Stevens Point.


He coached with his father, Bill Verbeten, at Wrightstown High School, for several years, but later joined his brother Donald Verbeten, who is the head wrestling coach at Reedsville High School.


Funeral services are scheduled at St Clare Parish/St. Patrick Church in Askeaton at noon on Saturday, January 9.
