REEDSVILLE – A rural Hilbert woman died of injuries she suffered when she was struck by a car on U.S. 10, just east of County W, early Sunday morning, July 14, in the Village of Reedsville.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the scene just after 3:20 a.m. and found that 31-year old Joanna Marie Harrell has been walking west on 10 when she was struck by an eastbound 2007 Chrysler sedan. The driver of the car was identified as 36-year old Jamar Golden, of Two Rivers. He and his passenger, a 30-year old Manitowoc man, were not injured.

The Reedsville Fire Department, Reedsville EMS First Responders and Valders Ambulance attended to the scene, along with the Wisconsin State Patrol and Hiway 42 Garage.

Sheriff Dan Hartwig said Harrell was flown by ThedaStar EMS helicopter to the ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, where she died about an hour later.

Manitowoc County Coroner Curt Green gave the preliminary cause of death as blunt force trauma. A final cause of death will be identified following an autopsy at the Fond du Lac County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday (July 15).

Harrell has a prior home address in Brillion.

Investigation of the incident is being handled by the sheriff’s department, the coroner, the district attorney and the State Patrol.
