UPDATED: Rollover crash claims Malone man

BROTHERTOWN - A one-vehicle rollover crash early on the morning of St. Stephen's Day claimed the life of a 24-year old driver. The person driving the vehicle was identified by the Calumet County Sheriff's Department as Austin Schmitz, of Malone. who was pronounced dead at the scene. It was reported at 3:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 26.

Lt. Eric Voland said deputies determined the vehicle was southbound on U.S. 151 near Jefferson Road - that's about a mile south of the 151-55 split - when it left the pavement and rolled several times. Chilton Police and the Town of Calumet Fire Department assisted sheriff's deputies at the scene. Schmitz was alone in his vehicle.
