Sex offender scheduled to move to Brillion

BRILLION – The Brillion Police Department notified the public that a convicted sex offender is scheduled to move to the 400 block of Roselawn in the city. 

Brandon J. Sonnabend, 29, was convicted of third degree sexual assault on Dec. 12, 2016, and of second degree sexual assault on Oct. 12, 2023.

The Department of Corrections will monitor Sonnabend by GPS for the remainder of his life.

He is required to register for life with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, have no unsupervised contact with minors, no contact with any victims and not consume any drugs.

“The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of multiple sexual offenses. Further, his criminal history places him in a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend. We want to make sure that the community remains vigilant and ensure they fully understand the seriousness of this offender,” the police department’s press release read.

Sonnabend is not wanted by the police at this time.

“This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” the statement read.

The information was released under state statute 301.46, which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release to enhance public safety, awareness and protection.

Sonnabend carried a Brillion address on East Ryan Street at the time of his arrest in 2016. The police department encouraged additional questions be directed to the State Wisconsin Department of Corrections (608) 240-5830 or the Brillion Police Department (920) 756-2221.
