Shooting in Hilbert on Christmas night

One woman is facing a life-threatening injury after a shooting on Christmas night in Hilbert.


Calumet County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the Hilbert Acres Mobile Home Community for a report of a 25-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head just after 9 p.m. on Thursday night.


She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. A man was interviewed and released. The sheriff’s office said the man is cooperating with investigators.


The sheriff’s office said it is an active investigation, and no arrests have been made. Names of those involved were not released by officials in the press release.


There is no danger to the community at this time.
