The Brillion News

BELLEVUE - On Tuesday, August 4, a suspect was located, arrested and locked up in the Brown County Jail in connection with a criminal theft by fraud scheme that detectives believe was perpetrated throughtout northeast Wisconsin.

The suspect was identified as Mico Jody Miller, age 26, of Texas.

Miller identified his companion as a 12 year old juvenile. Deputies said Miller self-identified as an “Asphalt Gypsy” and said he has been engaged in the described activity for over a month in Wisconsin while using fictitious business information. The manhunt for him began after he allegedly defrauded an elderly rural Brown County couple out of thousands of dollars to seal their driveway - then skipped out after taking their money.

Formal charges are expected on Wednesday of Thursday in Brown County Circuit Court. The jail booking lists Miller as behind held for felony theft by fraud/misrepresentation. He is being held without bond pending his first court appearance. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office said it had received numerous reports from individuals and agencies throughout the state reporting fraudulent activity associated with Miller. Numerous individuals reported that they felt embarrassed that they were defrauded or lacked suspect information as the reason for not contacting law enforcement earlier. Anyone who believes that they were a victim of financial fraud in this case is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency to make a report.
