Train wins grade crossing wreck

TOWN OF CHILTON - A collision between a Canadian National local freight train and a manure-hauling semi, just before 1 p.m. on Friday, October 1, has closed Hickory Hills Road between State 57/32 and irish Road.


The Calumet County Sheriff's Department and Chilton Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

The grade crossing is market with crossbucks and yield signs, but not with electronic warnings or crossing gates.

The trailer of the manure-hauling semi was in a ditch west of the railroad tracks and south of the road. The tractor pulling the semi-trailer remained on the roadway on the west side of the grade crossing.

The Brillion News is not aware of any injuries.

The fire department dispatch mentioned a possible fuel spill.
