HILBERT - The Hilbert Village Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 20, at the village board room of the Municipal Building at 26 North Sixth Street.

The agenda has two items, including discussion and possible action on a mutual agreement to terminates the municipally-contracted curbside waste and recycling collection service performed by Waste Management.

Then the board will consider entering into a contract to have GFL handle the garbage and recycling collections and disposal.

The board will also consider donating excess wood chips from grinding up tree branches at the compost site. The chips would be donated to Freitag Park in Forest Junction.

Hilbert has been overwhelmed by chips from tree waste disposed at the village's compost site.

The board will also consider going into closed session to discuss a subject that has competitive or bargaining elements. There could be action on that item when the closed session ends.

As at most Village of Hilbert meetings, the public is given an opportunity to speak at the top of the agenda, before any action items are addressed.
