TOWN OF MAPLE GROVE - A fire reported around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 26, destroyed a barn at a farm on Manitowoc Road, but firefighters from three counties kept it from taking a home just west of the barn and other nearby structures.

The fire happened on the north side of Manitowoc Road, which is in the Brillion Fire District.

Brillion Fire Chief Joe Deiner said the first firefighters on the scene saw the burning barn begin to collapse as they turned off Manitowoc Road and headed north on the narrow lane to the farmstead.

Helping out were the Reedsville, Potter, Hilbert, Forest Junction, Valders, Wayside, Morrison, Hollandtown, Harrison and Chilton fire departments.

The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department blocked off Manitowoc Road and Round Lake Road as tankers ferried water from Round Lake to the fire scene.

Brillion and Reedsville EMS first responders and Brillion Ambulance also attended the scene.

There were no injuries. The barn was not being used to house livestock.

A complete report will be featured in the September 30 print edition of THE BRILLION NEWS.
