REEDSVILLE – A $5.848 million project to improve 11.6 miles of U.S. 10 and State 310 from the east village limits of Reedsville to County R in Manitowoc County begins Monday, May 21 and will finish in September of this year.

A detour of U.S. 10 will take place for work within the village of Whitelaw. U.S. 10 will remain open for resurfacing work outside of Whitelaw village limits.

Northeast Asphalt of Greenville is the prime contractor.

The project will mill and overlay the existing asphaltic pavement. Other improvements include culvert repair and replacement at spot locations, guardrail upgrades, vision corner grading at the intersection of U.S. 10 and County H, installation of new signing, pavement marking, and centerline rumble strips.

The project consists of a partial reconstruction of U.S. 10 (Menasha Avenue) in the Village of Whitelaw. Other improvements in Whitelaw include new storm sewer from Pine Street to Cherry Street, new pedestrian curb ramps along U.S. 10, new concrete base and asphalt overlay, new signing and pavement markings.

Traffic impacts

  1. U.S. 10 will be CLOSED in Whitelaw for storm sewer and concrete repairs from May 21 to mid-July, with traffic DETOURED around the village. The detour is over County W, U.S. 151, and I-43.

  2. U.S. 10/State 310 will remain OPEN in the project limits during milling and paving operations outside of Whitelaw village limits.

  3. Motorists can expect to encounter periodic single lane closures and flagging operations in each direction.

  4. Local access to businesses and properties will be maintained.

  5. The DOT provides signed detours on roadways for long-haul trucks. In many cases, local traffic can find alternate routes that are much shorter than state detours.

A separate U.S. 10 resurfacing project between Forest Junction in Calumet County and the west village limits of Reedsville in Manitowoc County is scheduled to begin next month. More information for all US 10 work in Manitowoc and Calumet counties is available on the US 10 Projects construction website at https://projects.511wi.gov/us10manty/
