UPDATE: Woman dies after motorcycle crash

TOWN OF GIBSON, Manitowoc County – A rear-end collision , where one Harley-Davidson rear-ended another on Sunday afternoon, killed the female passenger on one motorcycle. Two other people were injured, one critically.

Killed was 48-year old Linda Jane Griffey, of Kewaunee.

Wisconsin State Patrol Sgt. Nate Wright said it happened around 3 p.m. on County R, at Old County Y Road, near Maribel.  That’s just north of the 141 Speedway.

The crash happened when a 2012 Harley-Davidson, operated by 58-year old Thomas R. Bournoville  of Luxemburg, slowed down at the intersection and a second motorcycle, a 1995 Harley, plowed into the back of the first motorcycle.

The operator of the second motorcycle – 67 year old Kenneth Griffey, 67, of Kewaunee, has non-life threatening injuries. Linda Jane Griffey was his passenger.

Bournoville was alone on his motorcycle and suffered life-threatening injuries. He is at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

All three were ejected from the crashed bikes and tossed onto the roadway.

“Heavy rain and alcohol are possible contributing factors in the crash,” Wright said. “None of the motorcyclists were wearing helmets.”

All names are being withheld by the state patrol for mow.

The crash drew responses from the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, Mishicot Ambulance, County Rescue ambulance, Manitowoc Fire Department, Maribel Fire Department, Francis Creek Fire Department and Maribel EMS First Responders.
