TOWN OF BRILLION – Four people were injured Thursday morning, July 20, when two vehicles collided at National Road and Long Lake Road around 9 a.m. None of the injuries are life threatening.

Calumet County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Brett Bowe said a Subaru SUV was westbound on Sunnyslope Road in the Town of Maple Grove in Manitowoc County and apparently failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Long Lake Road and Sunnyslope Road.

Sunnyslope Road changes its name to National Road on the west side of Long Lake Road, in the Town of Brillion in Calumet County.

Long Lake Road marks the Calumet-Manitowoc County line.

The SUV collided with a Chevrolet sedan that was southbound on Long Lake Road, and had the right-of-way at the intersection.

Both drivers were identified as 16-year old males, and all of the people involved have Brillion addresses.

There were no passengers in the Chevy, but two adult female passengers in the SUV, including an 88-year old woman. The SUV rolled onto its side as a result of the collision.

Brillion Police, the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department, Brillion Ambulance and Brillion Fire Department all managed the incident scene. Two ambulances were required, and firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free at least one person.

Bowe said the women in the SUV are believed to be the mother and grandmother of the driver.

Bowe said the accident investigation is not complete, but the driver of the SUV may be cited for failure to yield the right of way.
