HOLLANDTOWN – A 54-year old woman from rural Manitowoc was killed at mid-afternoon on Friday (January 19) after the vehicle she was driving failed to yield at a stop sign at County D (Marx Road) and County KK (Man-Cal Road) in the Town of Holland.
Lt. Chris Knurr, of the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, said she woman was westbound on Man-Cal in a van. She failed to stop for the stop sign and was hit broadside by a SUV headed north on County D.
The crash happened on the Brown-Calumet County line, in front of the Hollandtown Deli and Convenience Store.
The deceased driver of the van is identified as Yevonne M. Lane, 54, from the Manitowoc area. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound SUV, who was not at fault, is identified as Corey S. Tienor, 44, from the Kaukauna area. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was not injured. Both parties were the only occupants of their vehicles at the time of the crash.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Hollandtown Vol. Fire Department, Brown County Highway Department and Country Rescue Services also attended the emergency. The Brown County Sheriff’s Department Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation. Both roads were closed for several hours to allow investigators to work.
The crash was the third serious crash and second fatality on Man-Cal Road along the Calumet County line in two months. The others were in late November at Man-Cal and County PP, and a week ago at State Park Road and Man-Cal.
