ASKEATON – A rural Maple Grove woman was killed in a brutal collision of her passenger vehicle with a semi tractor-trailer rig at the intersection of Brown County Z and State 57/32 in the Town of Holland on Thursday, April 6.
It happened just before 10:30 a.m. The victim was identified on Friday as 31-year old Cara Klemm. She lived between Brillion and Reedsville, with a rural Brillion address.
The state highway was closed from Forest Junction to Greenleaf, until 10:30 p.m.
According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, three children riding in the car with the woman suffered minor injuries. They were one, three and five years old.
The semi was hauling Fox River sediments to the Hickory Meadows Landfill in the Town of Chilton, and was fully loaded. The truck went into the east side ditch, south of the intersection, and rolled over onto its side, spilling a large part of the load.
The crash is believed to have happened when Klemm’s car, eastbound on Z, failed to yield at the stop sign at Z and 57/32 and drove into the path of the semi, which struck her vehicle in the front left quadrant.
Traffic on State 57/32 was closed down from Greenleaf south to Calumet County K, just north of Forest Junction in the Town of Brillion.
Klemm’s vehicle stayed on the highway. The car was demolished and the truck tractor was heavily damaged.
