UPDATED: New Holstein man dies of gunshot wound

NEW HOLSTEIN – A 19-year old rural New Holstein man is dead from a gunshot wound, but the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department said there is no danger to the public.

The sheriff’s department  identified the victim as 19-year old Brandon J. Paulson, of New Holstein.  Funeral services will be held this Saturday, January 20. More information is available at http://www.sippelfuneralhome.net/.

The sheriff’s communications center received a 9-1-1 call at 11:42 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, asking for help at a home on County Q in the Town of New Holstein. Officers from the sheriff’s department and New Holstein Police Department responded along with Kiel Ambulance.

Paulson was taken to the New Holstein Airport by ambulance, then airlifted by Flight for Life EMS helicopter to the Theda Clark Trauma Center in Neenah, where he was pronounced dead. A person was taken into custody shortly after the shooting on an outstanding warrant and a probation hold and taken to the Calumet County Jail.

New Holstein EMS First Responders and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
