CHILTON – A project to resurface U.S. 151 from Chioton east to State 67 in the Town of Eaton in Manitowoc County will begin on Monday, August 12.
The $1.8 million project got final approval on August 1 from Governor Tony Evers. The project is expected to wrap up sometime in mid-September.
There will be a marked detour early in the project because of culvert replacements and reconstruction of a railroad grade crossing just east of the Chilton city limits near Hayton.
All totaled, 5.6 miles of the highway will be milled down, then overlayed with new asphalt. Cross-culverts will be replaced, shoulders will be widened to five feet and shoulder rumble strips will be applied next to the fog lines.
The prime contractor for the project is Northeast Asphalt, Inc., of Greenville.
