WIAA girls state wrestling is Saturday

LA CROSSE - The first-ever WIAA state Girls Wrestling Championships will be competed on Saturday, January 29, at the La Crosse Center. Doors open for spectators at 8 a.m., with bouts started an hour later.

Matches for first, third and fifth places begin at 6:30 p.m.

Local qualifiers include one for Brillion, three for Chilton/Hilbert, two for Reedsville and two for Wrightstown.

The weights are wrestled consecutively, from lowest to highest, each bout wrestled on the next available of the five mats.


Local wrestlers qualified for state are:


107 pounds - KayDance Nolan, Chilton/Hilbert, junior, 14-7 record


114 pounds - Autumn Vann, Wrightstown, sophomore, record not available


120 pounds - Amelia Stetson, Reedsville, senior, r.n.a.; Riley Heller, Chilton/Hilbert, freshman, 5-13


126 pounds - Ellie Kasper, Reedsville, junior, r.n.a.


138 pounds - Sophia Galoff, Brillion, sophomore, 13-4


165 pounds - MacKenzi Summers, Wrightstown, sophomore, r.n.a.; Samantha Meyer, Chilton/Hilbert, sophomore, 14-2.


Match results will be updated constantly on www.trackwrestling.com. That site also has the brackets for each weight class.

The championship matches will be aired live on Bally Sports Wisconsin. You must be a subscriber to view them.
