TOWN OF GIBSON – The canine partner of a Manitowoc County sheriff’s officer trailed and nabbed a 30-year old Green Bay driver who crashed his vehicle – injuring five people – and then took off running.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 5:44 p.m. Monday along State 147 , between Mishicot and Larrabee. When officers got to the scene, they found five people injured – including one trapped – but learned that the driver fled.

Lt. Todd Cummings and his dog Keto arrived and Keto sniffed the trail to a nearly home to the west of the crash.

The 1966 Toyota had left the road and struck a power pole.

The driver, Daniel Munoz, from Green Bay, was arrested for causing great bodily harm by driving while intoxicated, four counts of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, and operating while revoked.

The five people injured were all transported to area hospitals. They are a 17 year old male, 17-year old female, 21-year old male and 32-year old female, all from Green Bay, and a 26-year old female from Oshkosh.

Attending at the scene with the sheriff’s department were Mishicot Ambulance, Mishicot EMS First Responders and the Mishicot Fire Department.
