Brillion swimmers qualify for state

ASHWAUBENON – Members of the Brillion-Valders-Chilton swim team will compete in the state championships in Madison on Friday, Feb. 15.

The group qualified during Saturday’s sectional at Ashwaubenon High School.

Bo Geiger, Parker Sonnabend, Isaac Koehler and David Suttner won the sectional championship in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:41.62. That time was good enough for a new team record, which was 1:45.45.

Sonnabend won the sectional championship in the 200-yard IM. Sonnabend set a new team record in that event as well with 1:57.59 time. The old record was 2:02.69.

Other state qualifiers:

200-yard freestyle relay: Geiger, Sonnabend, Koehler, Suttner (second place in sectionals)

100-yard breaststroke: Sonnabend (second place in sectionals; also set a new team record with a time of 59.39)

100-yard butterfly: Geiger (third place in sectionals; also set a new team record with a time of 55.26)

New team record on 55.26.  Old record was 55.59.

400-yard freestyle relay: Garrett Braun, Suttner, Koehler, Geiger (sixth place in sectionals)
