Volleyball update: Oostburg beats Brillion in regional final

Update

Oostburg knocked off Brillion in the regional final winning all three sets. Scores were 25-15, 25-18 and 25-20.

Oostburg is the second-seed and will play top seed Howards Grove in the sectional semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The state tournament is Thursday, Nov. 3 to Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

Lions advance to final

The Brillion volleyball team will play in a Division 3 regional final match on Saturday night, October 22.

The Lions beat conference foe Valders 3-1 on Thursday night in the semifinal. The Lions lost the first set 25-16 then won the next three - 25-22, 25-23, 25-19. Brillion staved off a Valders comeback in the third set. They never trailed in the fourth and decisive set.

Brillion had beaten Mishicot at home on Tuesday night 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-16) to advance to the semifinal.

Brillion will play at Oostburg Saturday. Oostburg is the second-seed and beat Kewaunee and Sheboygan Area Lutheran to advance to the finals.

Wolves reach regional semifinals

Hilbert (#5) lost to Rio (#4) 3-1 on Thursday night.

The Wolves had beaten Tigerton (#12) 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-16) on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinal.

Other volleyball scores

Reedsville (#9) lost to Algoma (#8) 3-1 (25-27, 22-25, 25-20, 13-25) on Tuesday night.

Wrightstown (#8) lost to Xavier (#9) 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, 16-25) on Tuesday night.
