Car fire leads to driver’s arrest in Wrightstown

Posted at 12:25 on January 1, 2020 The Brillion News WRIGHTSTOWN – At 1:47 a.m. on New Year’s Day, the Wrightstown Police Department, Wrightstown Fire Department and County Rescue were dispatched to the area of Louise Drive in the Village of Wrightstown for a one-vehicle accident – with the vehicle on fire. The initial report from the driver of the vehicle advised witnesses that her children were in the vehicle. That information was relayed to the Brown County 911 Center, which notified emergency responders. Wrightstown Police Chief Greg Deike said the first officers on scene arrived to find the vehicle completely engulfed in fire. They tried to get to the vehicle to rescue anyone trapped in it, but were turned back by the flames. The driver and witnesses were located in a nearby building where the driver’s injuries were tended to by EMS personnel. During the initial interview with the driver, it was determined that there were no children in the vehicle and the driver had been the only occupant. The female driver was transported to the hospital due to her injuries. She was treated and later booked into the Brown County Jail on suspicion of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.
