HILBERT - The Hilbert Health Board/Committee will be meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, to begin work on a job description for the village's Fire Chief.
The only job description currently on the books is in the Village Code Chapter 3.01, which creates the fire department.
It says that "The Chief shall be appointed by the Health Board, subject to approval by the Village Board. The Chief shall immediately assume office until removed for cause by a majority vote of the members of the Village Board, unless sooner terminated by resignation, change of residence to outside the fire district or death."
The Health Board plans to develop a more detailed job description for the chief of the fire department, and may change the village code for the fire department as well.
The meeting is open to the public, and will be held at the Village Hall, 26 North Sixth Street, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 6.
Mike Loose is the current chief and has endorsed the idea of creating a more detailed job description.
