Warmer weather and the resulting melting of a significant snow pack produced heavy fog in Brown, Calumet, Manitowoc and Outagamie counties on the morning of Thursday, March 19.

In northern Calumet County, there were two major multiple-vehicle crashes in the Forest Junction-Hollandtown area that forced the sheriff’s department to close U.S. 10 west of Forest Junction for several hours. The initial crash involved two semis. The scene, at U.S. 10 and County D, was shrouded in fog. The Calumet County Sheriff’s Department asked the Hollandtown Fire Department to help by protecting the scene from further crashes.

There was significant flooding of the East River in the Town of Wrightstown, with the town closing Wrightstown Road , Mallard Road and Partridge Road.

The Brown County Highway Division closed County W, between Morrison Road and Park Road, after the highway was flooded over.

The photo accompanying this story of of Wrightstown Road, one mile west of State 57/32. The East River flooded and the roadway is under about 5 feet of water.
