TOWN OF WRIGHTSTOWN - A head-on collision between a dump truck and a pickup truck closed State 96 between Refuge and Blake roads on the morning of Thursday, September 16, and claimed the life of the driver of the pickup truck.
The crash happened in the eastbound lane of the two-lane highway, around 6:30 a.m.
The front end of the dump truck was heavily damaged and the pickup truck was destroyed.

The highway was closed to all traffic between Blake and Refuge roads, and the road closure was expected to last well into the morning as Brown County sheriff's deputies reconstruct the crash.
The Eagle III EMS helicopter attended the scene, along with County Rescue ambulances, the Greenleaf Vol. Fire Department, the Brown County Public Works/Highway Division, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Brown County Sheriff's office.
The driver and passenger in the dump truck were injured and were transported to a hospital. Their injuries are described as minor by sheriff's Lt. Scott Vande Voort.
