Hilbert cancels July 4th parade & picnic

The Brillion News

HILBERT - Fears of the danger of the human coronavirus have taken another casualty, with the cancellation of the 2020 Hilbert Firemen's Fourth of July Parade and the Hilbert Lions Club Picnic that followed it.

The two events together constituted the annual Hilbert Fourth of July Family Festival.

In a joint letter to the Village government, the two groups said the cancellation "would be in the best interest of the health and safety of our workers and the public."

The two groups said health concern were making it difficult to find people willing to work the parade and picnic.

The festival provided significant income that the Lions used for charity work and that the volunteer firefighters used to help pay for fire department operations.

The Lions and firefighters said "it would be best to direct our plans toward a bigger and better event in 2021."
