Obituary: Harold A. (Harry, Swampy) Paulson

Harold A. (Harry, Swampy) Paulson, age 85, died August 4, 2026, at his home in rural Hilbert.  He was born on September 13, 1940, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Clarence and Serena (Bach) Paulson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Bay, attended Green Bay Public Schools, and graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1959.  Harold then became a member of the Wisconsin National Guard. 

On October 26, 1963, Harold married Judith (Judy) Peterson, of Irma, Wisconsin, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Merrill.  Working for NCR took them on the road to Fond du Lac, Dayton Ohio, and Appleton prior to moving to Hilbert in 1966, where his love for their farm kept them, to this day.  After more than 35 years at Brillion Iron Works,  he retired in 2008 .

They have two children, Teresa Anderson and Randall Paulson; four grandchildren, Christine (Justin) Lintner, Justin, Jake and Jericka Paulson; and three great grandchildren, Aiden Paulson, Noah Paulson and Clara Lintner. 

Harold was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert where he previously served as an Elder, Usher and was a member of the former St. Peter Men’s Club and dart ball team.  His favorite retirement activity was breakfast with ‘the guys’ in Forest Junction.

Harold is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as by his brother Ervin Paulson, Silver Cliff WI, his sister Jeanette Delany, Ashwaubenon WI and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Delores Delaruelle and her husband, Mike, sister-in-law Barbara Paulson, brother-in-law Charles Delany, a niece and three nephews.

The family would like to extend its thanks to the area first responders for their multiple visits, the Calumet County Home Health Care and Hospice, the Calumet County Supportive in Home Care  Department, and to Rev. Mark Peterson for his visits.

As per Harold’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public service.
