MANITOWOC - Top-seeded Manitowoc Lutheran just barely held off No. 5 Brillion 59-56 in a Division 4 regional final on Saturday night.
Brillion senior Camden Hale made a 3-point basket following a Claire Schuh defensive steal to put the Lions down one, 55-54, with 1:51 remaining.
The Lions were again down one with just seconds to go. Emma Schuh blocked a Lancers' shot with 11 seconds left but the Lions did not get the chance to attempt a shot to tie or take the lead.
"Our team played their hearts out tonight and battled throughout the game," Coach Jeff Capelle said.
Hale finished with 18 points. Amaya Brooks scored 17. Other Lions scoring were Emma Schuh 13, Claire Schuh 6 and Kennadie Ott 2.
"It was a very competitive and physical regional game and I am very proud of how our team competed. We had a great season," Capelle said.
Brillion finishes the season 18-9 overall. Manitowoc Lutheran is 24-2 overall and will compete in the sectional round.
