WHITELAW - A semi-tanker truck hauling liquid manure rolled over on Tuesday morning at the intersection of U.S. 10 and Manitowoc County T in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, midway between Branch and Whitelaw.
It happened just before 8:40 a.m. when the operator of the truck, eastbound on U.S. 10, attempted to turn left at T and head northbound. The tractor trailer overturned into the ditch on the northeast quadrant of the intersection, with diesel fuel and manure leaking and flowing into a pond.
The driver, a 39-year old Manitowoc man, had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The roadway was closed for nearly four hours to accommodate the investigation and cleanup.
Agencies managing the incident included the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin DNR, Manitowoc County Highway Department, Manitowoc Fire/Rescue, Branch Fire Department, Whitelaw Fire Department, Whitelaw EMS First Responders, B&M Waste Services, Maritime Plumbing, Rite Way Applications, Mike Kaufmann Custom Services, and Hi-Way 42 Garage. The emergency response were coordinated by the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center.
