OBITUARY:

Gerald A. “Jerry” Martinson, age 79, of Brillion, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday December 22, 2018.


He was born in Hawkins, WI on July 10, 1939, son of the late Marshall and Josephine Martinson. On May 12, 1962 he married Kathryn “Kay” Jensen at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brillion. Jerry served his county in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. After his military service, he worked as a mechanic at the Brillion Iron Works until retiring in 2002. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the City of Brillion for 25 years and served as Chief for many years. Jerry was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion and the Bloedorn Becker Jensen American Legion Post #126 of Brillion. He was very proud of his Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in April of this year. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Kay, his children, Dorene (David) Spatchek, Brad (Bonnie) Martinson, Karla (John) Jenquin, 5 grandchildren, Jennifer (Rodd) Reichardt, Pat (Mindy) Schuh, Brandon Spatchek, Zach Jenquin and Levi Jenquin, 5 great grandchildren, Carter and Lydia Schuh, Lilly, Emma and Rory Reichardt, 2 brothers, Roger (Char) Martinson, Bill (Marcia) Martinson and a brother-in-law Jim (Pat) Jensen and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Monica Jensen and a brother-in-law Richard “Chugger” Jensen.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday December 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 West Ryan St. Brillion. The Rev. Tom Pomeroy will officiate; burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Brillion. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jerry’s name.
