Obituary: Alfred "Al" Korstad

Alfred “Al” O. Korstad, age 82, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 15, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County.
Al was born on January 28, 1943 in Manitowoc County, son of the late Otis & Ruth (Thone) Korstad. He was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1961. Al served our country in the United States Army. On November 25, 1967, he married Judith “Judy” Krepline at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Collins in a joint wedding with his brother Glen and Judy’s sister, Bonita “Bonnie” Krepline. Judy preceded him in death on December 14, 2014. He worked in construction for many years as a mason, most recently at Boldt Builds in Appleton. Al enjoyed bowling, playing Sheepshead, watching (and complaining) about the Brewers and the Packers, traveling with his wife, and spending time with family.
Al is survived by his children and their spouses: Dawn (Ronald) Zastrow of Cleveland, Jeff (Mindy) Korstad of Menasha, Kevin (Tori) Korstad of Appleton, and Becky (Brad) Busse of Reedsville; grandchildren: Tyler (Beverly) Zastrow, Ryan Zastrow, Brandon and Caitlyn Korstad, and Jade and Paige Busse; step-grandchild: Tevin; two great-grandchildren: Theodore and Luna Zastrow; siblings and in-laws: Dorothy Peterman, Janis Waier, Marlene Korstad, Marian Korstad, Terry Brandenburg, Barbara Korstad, Jim (Carol) Krepline, Kenny (Betty) Krepline, Vic (Barb) Krepline, Eunice (Dennis) Schroeder, Vern (Marcia) Krepline, Verna (Dave) Mathiebe, Joy (Mike) Buboltz, and Kim (Steve) Denor. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Al was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings and in-laws: Shirley Korstad, Melvin Korstad, JoAnn Korstad, Dale Korstad, Dennis Korstad, Glen (Bonita) Korstad, Judy Brandenburg, and Francis Peterman, Jerry (Linda) Krepline; nephew: Chad Krepline; and other relatives.
Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Collins. Officiating was Rev. Mark Barenz. Military Rites will be accorded by the AmVets Post 1032 of Reedsville. Burial was in the church cemetery.
