OBITUARY: Betty Jane Shamburek

Betty Jane Shamburek, age 75, a Reedsville resident, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.


She was born on August 28, 1945 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Harold and Elnora (Schwantes) Hansen. Betty was a graduate of Brillion High School, Class of 1963. She was united in marriage to George Shamburek Jr. on February 14, 1970 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville. Betty was employed as a waitress at the drive in at Brillion, Ariens and then was a childcare provider for over 30 years. B

etty enjoyed bowling in couples’ leagues with her husband and playing cards with the Reises and the Fritschs. She also enjoyed being with and talking with her family over Google and Facetime, working on puzzles, canning “pickles” and baking her famous beans, no one could make them like her. She was a huge supporter of her children and grandchildren and always present for their special events. She was amazing at remembering special dates and picking out and sending the most perfect card on each occasion. She was very generous of her time and gifts. She was a member of St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsville.


Survivors include her husband of 50 years: George Shamburek Jr., Reedsville; her children: Jackie (Denis) Fredrickson, Hortonville, Andrew (Lisa) Shamburek, Oconto Falls, Rebecca (Aaron) McCullough, Crivitz; her grandchildren: Megan (Zach), Drew, Andrea, Faith, Grace, Caleb, and Corinne; a great granddaughter: Ada; and her siblings and in-laws: Barbara Graper, Brillion, Robert “Bob” & Marlene Hansen, Appleton, Beverly Ambroso, Sherwood, Ronald (Sharon) Hansen, Appleton, Russ (Lori) Hansen, Appleton, Bonnie (Dan) Gilson, Brillion, Janice (Larry) Zahorik, Reedsville and Peggy Shamburek, Brillion. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Donald Graper and John Ambroso; an infant sister: Sandra Hansen; a brother-in-law: Ron Shamburek; and a granddaughter: Ellie.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2020 at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsville. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. Darin Aden with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pielhop Wieting Funeral Home, Reedsville, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020. Friends may also call Friday morning at St. John St. James Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsville, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be made.
