OBITUARY: Charlotte A Pethan

Our hearts were broken as we learned on January 10, 2022, our mother, Charlotte A Pethan, Hilbert, age 83, had passed after a short illness. She is now reunited with her husband, Eugene, in heaven.

She was born February 13, 1938 to the late Hugo and Marie (Karls) Nennig and was raised on a farm in Chilton.

She married Eugene Pethan on January 9, 1957 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge and raised five children in Hilbert. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.

Char worked at the Hilbert Cheese Factory, Bonk, Lutz & Hertel as a legal secretary, and Pethan’s Service Station as a bookkeeper. As she eased into her retirement years, she enjoyed her time as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. All Char’s clients quickly became lifelong friends.

She loved her time with family, work, Packer games, and road trips with her friends, Colleen and Phyllis. She was also always welcoming to other people who had nowhere else to go for the holidays.

Char was very active in her community as treasurer of the Ox Bow Sportman’s Club for many years, served food to the elderly for Meals on Wheels, helped with elections, served on the Hilbert Revitalization Group and many other civic activities. She was also a member of St. Mary Christian Mothers and St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert.

We will miss her kind and loving heart and compassionate ways. We love you Mom!

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
