Obituary: Gary L. Brandenburg

Gary L. Brandenburg, 77, Greenleaf, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2022. He was born February 3, 1945, to the late Gilbert and Verna (Edinger) Brandenburg.

Gary graduated from De Pere High School. On October 17, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sandy Borchardt at Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside.


After 43 years at Appleton Paper, Gary retired to his “hobby farm”, where he enjoyed nonstop motion, of either constant tinkering, raising steers, heifers, and cutting lawn (his and the boys). When he could get away, Gary liked going to see old cars, and attending his grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, their children; Scott (Renee) Brandenburg, Todd (Angie) Brandenburg, and Tim (Jenny) Brandenburg. His grandchildren; Jasmine, Sarah, Drew, Parker, Emmett, Macey, Cody, and Taylor. Gary’s siblings; Janice (Dwight) Anderson, Jean Witak, and Doris Rietz. Sandy’s family; Gloria (special friend Dave) Burt, Pam Schlender, and Deb (Dick) Kuckenbecker, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his dog Chip. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dale Witak.

Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church, 8378 Cty Rd. W in Wayside from 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Friday, December 30, 2022. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 9:00AM – 10:45AM.
