Mary L. Lefeber, age 83, of Hilbert, died on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. She was born May 27, 1941, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Hurley) Schomisch. Mary was a graduate of Hilbert High School, Class of 1959, and married Marvin Lefeber on September 5, 1964, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge. They were married 57 years and farmed together in the Town of Woodville.
She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and was an excellent cook who loved to prepare elaborate meals for her entire family, especially on holidays and family gatherings. She loved her home, her cat, and took pride in displaying her many keepsakes and collectibles.
Mary is survived by her children: Cynthia Lefeber, Leon (Jason) Lefeber; grandchildren: Jacob Godschalx, Kate (Chase) Godschalx; great-grandchild: Clayton Godschalx; Jason’s children: Christian and Kalel Wedesky. She is further survived by Arthur (Darlene) Schomisch, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents, her brothers: Gerald (Dorothy) Schomisch and James Schomisch; Marvin’s parents: Benedict and Margaret Lefeber; and a brother-in-law: Elroy (Mary Anne) Lefeber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, at St. John - Sacred Heart Catholic Church (N369 Military Rd.) in Sherwood. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, May 2, at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, and from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at the church prior to service. Mary will be laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sherwood after her funeral service.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to St. Elizabeth Hospital, Compassus Hospice Care, Frontida of Kimberly, and St. Paul Elder Services of Kaukauna for their excellent care and thoughtful compassion. A special thank you to our friends and neighbors in the Hilbert, Sherwood, St. John area, who stopped in to visit and spend time with Mom.
