Richard “Dick” Levash, age 88, of Brillion, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 25 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.
Dick was born on October 7, 1933 in Brillion, son of the late Wenzel “Jim” and Kate (Wittmann) Levash. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1951. On October 3, 1956, he married Virginia Jacobs at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Dick worked for a short time at the Brillion Iron Works after graduation. He also owned and operated his family dairy farm until his retirement in 1994. He would still help his family out when he could drive the farm machines and cutting crops.
Dick and Virginia loved to spend time together. In their early years, they would be dancing, playing cards, going on casino trips, and bowling. Dick would also hunt when he had time. Later on, the couple enjoyed car rides and spending time with their family. Dick had many accomplishments. He was on the Brillion School Board for many years, serving a few terms as President, was on the Calumet County Farm Bureau, was Co-op President and Secretary, and was on the Resolution Committee for the Farm Board.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia; their children and spouses: Joseph & Mary, Joan & Gary Hartz, John & Sheri, and Jerome & Tracey; grandchildren: Jason (Amy), James (Chelsea), Ashley (Matthew) Rusch, Lindsey (special friend Corey Ebben) Hartz, Nathan (special friend Vanessa Nenahlo), Chris (Emma), Shawna (James) Kiesow, Whitney (Christopher) Meza, Carissa (Cody) Schultz, Monique (Donovan) Nelson, and Brent; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jackson, Piper, Gemma, Cecilia, Emma, Carsen, Caleb, baby Levash, Natalie, Beau, Blake, Riley, Dane, and Dierks; in-laws: Joe (Ceil) Jacobs, Ken (Debbie) Jacobs, Ralph Karls, and Bev Jacobs; other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Raymond and Veronica (Micke) Jacobs, a grandson: Jeremiah, siblings and in-laws: Alma (Austin) Doberstein, Hildegard (Ed) Schreiber, and “Bud” Levash, other in-laws: Roger (Darlin) Jacobs, Robert (Carol) Jacobs, Hillard Jacobs, Dorothy Jacobs, Rosemary Karls, and Anna Marie (Pete) Lexum.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating will be Father Tom Pomeroy and Deacon Greg Van Thiel. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Brillion. Friends may call at church on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be made.
