Sandra “Sandie” L. Cavanaugh, age 74, of Brillion, passed away on Friday evening, June 20, 2025 at Frontida Assisted Living in Manitowoc.
Sandie was born on August 22, 1950 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Bernard and Rita (Meyer) Pritzl. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Reedsville, and then graduated from Reedsville High School. Sandie went on to receive her LPN from Green Bay Vocational School and her BSN from Bellin College of Nursing. She worked as a nurse for 50 years at various facilities including Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc, Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, and at various home health services. On October 18, 1969 she married Lawrence Cavanaugh at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Reedsville. Sandie was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Reedsville and was also a Girl Scout leader for her daughter’s troop. She enjoyed gardening, reading, watching movies, traveling, puzzles, crafts, her dogs, dancing and listening to Polka. Above all else, Sandie loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband: Lawrence Cavanaugh; their children: Neil Cavanaugh, Melanie Aldridge, Megan Cavanaugh (fiancé Jordan Haese); four grandchildren: Justin (Lexi) Cavanaugh, Taylor Cavanaugh (significant other Liv Burke-Oczkowski), Natasha (Terrain) Mitchell, Joshuah Cavanaugh; her siblings: Mary (LeRoy) Dreweiske, Nancy Peterson, Lorraine Gonzales, Beth (Dave) Schuh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill Prull, Thomas Cavanaugh, Julia (Robert) Stedl, Barbara (Gary) Borchardt, Jeff Cavanaugh, Michael Cavanaugh; and her beloved German Shepherd dogs: Teddy and Regan Cavanaugh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Melissa Cavanaugh; siblings: Judy Prull, Dennis Pritzl; three sisters-in-law: Sarah (Gerald) Sloma, Anna (Kenneth) Menting, Jean Cavanaugh.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Tom Pomeroy with burial to take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Reedsville.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
