Bill is survived by two children and their spouses: Kyle (Jill) Schmidt and Connie (Jim) Kraemer; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dianne; one son: K.C. Schmidt; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Abe & Hildegard (Rabe) DePagter; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Marion (Ray) Feld, Lois (Bud) Gregory, and Joan (Herb) Reisinger; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Jeanette (Don) VanAkkerren; and other relatives.
