Postseason basketball ready to tip off

The WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament series opens on Tuesday, February 20 with 7 p.m. regional quarterfinal games and a caveat: In case of inclement weather on Tuesday, February 20, opening round games will be moved to Wednesday, February 21. Watch brackets at www.wiaawi.org for updates should weather conditions warrant game changes.

But if nature cooperates …

WIAA Division 3: Brillion hosts Sturgeon Bay at 7 p.m. on February 20. Wrightstown has a bye as the #1 seed, and hosts the Clintonville-Xavier winner on Friday, February 23, at 7 p.m.

WIAA Division 4: Reedsville opens at Howards Grove at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20.

WIAA Division 5: Hilbert opens by hosting Salam School (Milwaukee) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20. Stockbridge opens at Burlington Catholic Central at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20.

BOYS NEXT WEEK

The opening games for the boys basketball playoffs are Tuesday, February 27 at 7 p.m. They are:

WIAA Division 3: Cedar Grove-Belgium at Brillion. (Wrightstown has a bye and first plays at home on Friday, March 2 against the winner between Northland Pines and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.)

WIAA Division 4: Reedsville hosts Algoma.

WIAA Division 5: Eastbrook Academy at Hilbert; Stockbridge at Oakfield.
